A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by the South African Police Service after the body of a male was discovered on the N2 highway near Coombs in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to information gathered by SAPS, the victim was dropped at a Stop and Go by an unknown vehicle before informing a road worker at the Stop and Go that he was on his way home to Petersburg.
SAPS have stated that the victim was reportedly in an inebriated state.
The victim then proceeded on foot in the direction of Peddie.
A short while later a motorist travelling in the opposite direction from Peddie to Grahamstown informed the same road worker at the Stop and Go that there was the body of a young male lying on the road.
The road worker later confirmed that the body was that of the same man he had met earlier.
According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Mali Govender, the victim appears to be in his late twenties and is “light in complexion”.
The victim was reportedly wearing white shoes, white pants with green and yellow stripes and a black long-sleeved t-shirt.
SAPS has made an appeal to any individual who can help with the investigation and the identification of the victim. Contact Captain Mali Govender on 0827797123.
